Neighbor to Neighbor (N2N) Neighborhood Watch
Neighbor-to-Neighbor was formed in late October 2009 in response to an increase in home/auto burglaries beginning in spring, 2009. Wanting to foster the positive rather than the negative, the philosophy from the beginning has been “We watch out for one another.” N2N covers Marsh Road to 14th Avenue, and from the railroad tracks up the avenues, across Fair Oaks to the Atherton border. We have approximately 380 homes in the area, with 180 of those homes currently signed up for Neighbor-to-Neighbor. Each street has multiple block captains. Communication around the neighborhood has been key in building community. We started an Internet Google group where we can share information in a timely and efficient manner. This communication network seems to be the impetus for more and more neighbors signing up to become members of N2N. In addition the group’s chairperson maintains a master contact list that includes the name, address, phone and email (if available) of each member home. We are beginning to see positive change in the neighborhood since starting N2N as neighbors are commenting about how much closer the community is beginning to feel. Any resident who lives within our boundaries and would like to join N2N should contact the chairperson, Kathleen Peregrin, via email at kpfalcon@gmail.com March, 2010
