She reported that she has reviewed the work looking at the Commercial Zoning regulations and problems in NFO that Lida Kvashina and Aaron Sage did with the Council in the past couple of years. Adult uses, billboards, auto related businesses, and signage were problems that she is already looking into with County Counsel. The current Community Plan was discussed. Code enforcement and County Counsel resources were discussed and compared to surrounding cities' resources. The Councilmembers explained that the City of Redwood City's Community Development Director had approached the Council a couple of years ago regarding working with the County to have both sides of El Camino's commercial areas compatible (RWC on one side and County on the other). Ms. Borden and the Council agreed that the November sub-committee meeting might be a good time to have a working meeting on these issues. Special public meetings to present proposed changes could also be discussed at that time. Ms. Borden also supplied her telephone number (363-4061) and said that she welcomed discussion and questions about these issues.
A study conducted in 1994 at the request of the Council, recommended several improvements to the "Middlefield Road Corridor". Since this would require the removal of some roadway and sidewalks, improvements to the "streetscape" will be made during reconstruction. 6/17,24/99Finalize details on crosswalk design, street lighting, tree wells and street trees, garbage cans, sidewalk in residental area, and altering driveway cuts at 3214, 3233, and 3365 Middlefield.7/17/00Construction begins.11/17/01P.G.&E. removes power lines, Phase I complete. 11/5/02 Board of Supervisors designates Middlefield Road, between Fifth
